Funding, Grants and Support in Hertfordshire
The Skills Funding Agency sets the funding rates for the following qualifications each academic year:
- Regulated qualifications
- Learning Support
Training providers use the funding rates alongside Funding Rules and the Apprenticeship Funding Rules to calculate the amount of funding available for the individual learner. Funding available is determined by four factors:
- The funding formula which can include additional funds for extra costs for delivering training to some types of learners, employer size and in some locations.
- The funding rules for learning aims and work placements.
- The earnings method linked to length of delivery and achievement.
- Support needed for the learner to achieve
How is the funding accessed?
In the current system the funding is paid directly to the training provider to deliver the training for the employer and individual learner. Some qualifications are only part funded and in this instance a contribution from the employer is assumed. This is intended to change with the introduction of the Apprenticeship Reforms and Apprenticeship Levy.
